Baltic’s Autumn Adventure: Photo Essay

I have always challenged myself each time I looked for flights, for new places to discover and to explore. This time I booked myself to spend an autumn getaway to the Baltic Region Vilnius Lithuania, Riga Latvia and Tallin Estonia.  These beautiful countries full  of history , tucked away waiting to be explored. I have read lots of good things about these places and I want to explore and experience first hand. The culture, people, food and the history hiding behind the facade of those beautiful old buildings. Its not the usual tourist destination but I was impressed and had an amazing time. Let me take you to the Baltics through the beautiful photos I have captured.

Vilnius Lithuania

Vilnius the capital city of Lithuania. It had been political and cultural centre of Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The Old Town is Vilnius was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994 for the towns well preserved an impressive complex of Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and classical buildings as well as its medieval layout and natural setting. Vilnius was voted the European Capital of Culture in 2009 and considered the city of churches. Whilst in Lithuania a day trip to Trakai is highly recommended, go and stroll along the quaint town and a visit to the Trakai Castle is a must.

Riga Latvia

Enjoy the charmingly ancient Old Town by exploring  through its winding streets and its many tales and legends, dont forget to visit the markets and Riga’s wooden houses district, or jump from little boutiques and galleries to antique stores, funky little cafes   , and of course catch up on stories past  more than 800 years of history. It is considered the  pearl of the Baltic sea which awaits to be discovered.
No other city can boast such variety of exquisite examples from this amazing movement. It has been crowned one of the best cities in Europe to and it has by far the most varied styles with full illustration  of Art Nouveau architecture  buildings. Also known as Jugendstil, truly made its mark on Riga.

Tallinn Estonia

Famous primarily for its 13th century walls and the Old Town, Tallinn still has more to offer than just medieval charm. The glassy modern centre melts into the industrial marina landscape, offering a contrast to the tower-ridden Old Town.  All those things result in a fascinating city full of sights, both famous and hidden, offering unique experiences for travellers like me whos eager to wander and explore the place and to discover its history.

  1. They’re all really great cities hey! I was fortunate to have been able to explore Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn in May this year. Most people I’ve met seem to think that once you’ve seen one of the cities you don’t need to see the others. I think all 3 are pretty different and have their unique qualities. πŸ™‚ Poland will blow your mind!
