When I was asked to do Tandem Skydive. I quickly say Yes! You may say Am I mad? Definitely No! Im doing it for Crossroads Care Coventry & Warickshire Charity, so its like hitting two birds with one stone. Im doing something amazing for sure. And helping the charity at the same time I’m doing it for adventure. And to challenge myself outside my comfort zone and hurling myself out into the unknown. Because I do believe that on those scary moments you will find your true amazing self. I have done different adventurous activities before such as kayaking, ziplining, helicopter ride and microlight flights. But definitely Skydiving activity is another level of adventure.
The activity was first scheduled on February 7th, we were 25 skydivers on that day. The weather was a bit gloomy and foggy, so we waited till the weather got better. They announced the 1st 5 skydiver participants after 30 minutes . After the 1st batch of skydivers, the weather got worse. It rained and the activity was cancelled, it was rescheduled in 2 weeks time. Most of us were disappointed, but what can we do. Its a weather dependent activity, its better safe than sorry.
The most awaited day has arrived for the skydive. I wasn’t excited on the way because the weather was gloomy, but when we were almost near to the airfield the sun started to shine. My excitement has started to build-up. As soon as we reached the parking area, I was trotting towards the reception to register. A quick briefing was given and after 25 minutes waiting at the cafe, finally my name was called. Soon I was given a suit, hat and googles.
Then I was ready to go. I was paired with Ralph for my tandem team and Brad my video cameraman for the activity. I soon found out its only me in the group doing the tandem skydive, there were 8 other skydivers, professionals and student skydivers.
There were no hint of nervousness or what so ever. I was so excited for the activity.
We were lined up to got into the small plane. Soon enough we were ascending up in the air. I slowly saw the buildings and trees getting smaller and smaller.
We were finally 13,000 feet high, when we started to edge towards the door. It was Ralph and I last jumped with Brad nearby capturing every minute of the amazing adventure.
It was sunny but abit chilly up in the air. We flew like a free eagle soaring the sky, then I felt a shuddering moved. It was the parachute opened and our position changed to standing. That was the time, I actually started to enjoy the scenery. We were like glidingin the air. Ralph was stearing to the left and to the right. The view from above is magnificently beautiful. The spectacular landscape from above is so magical. The feeling was so amazing, words can’t really described what I felt during the skydive.
But one thing is for sure, I will definitely do this again.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family, friends and colleagues who supported me for the success of this endeavour I dealth with. Especially to my Tandem team buddy Ralph and to video/cameraman Brad of Skydiver Sibson at Uk Parachuting. Once again thank you very much to all of you.
Are you an adrenaline junkie? What adventure would you like to do this year? Are you brave enough to jump high and take the plunge? Step forward and take the risk! Go further than you think you should do, than normally you would, because maybe it will end up being something really rather special that you could never have imagined. Today can be the day that everything changes. Are you ready for your adventure of a lifetime? The choice is all yours.
I’d be willing to do a lot for charity, but would have to think twice to do this 🙂 You’re brave!

So were you ever scared or just excited? I wouldn’t do anything extreme like this for love, nor money, but I admire the courage it takes people to try it! 😉

You’re so much braver than I am! I don’t think I could ever do a skydive. Just the thought of it makes me feel a bit weird but it looks like you had a blast! Would you do a skydive in a different country next time?

You seem pretty fearless! Would you jump without instructor as well? I think that really pushes the adrenaline.

Love the picture where you just come out of the airplane!
Great you could combine the adventure with doing something good 🙂
The scariest thing I did was bungee jumping. It felt so weird! Standing there and your whole body saying: Don’t throw me down! And your mind telling you everything will be ok and pushing your body over the limit. I loved it. I think I would do this skydiving too 😉

I have wanted to go skydiving forever but I always chicken out and say it is too expensive. Maybe I just have to find another motivating factor. I am not really an adrenaline junkie but I feel that skydiving is just something I have to do!
Good on you for not being nervous and just going for it!

I have been sky diving twice, and I say it’s an adventure that EVERYONE should do once in his or her life!! Seriously. If I tell a person who is afraid of heights this, they would laugh in my face. But I think you can agree– it’s truly a life changing experience!!! And gives you a pretty big perspective of how little we are in this world 😉
